This is the main page used to listen to (stream) the archives of the cassette tapes I recorded during our time together in Flavour and Travoll. The first item you see is an embedded spreadsheet containing the contents of the tapes. It’s always going to be a work in progress until I complete the project. In the spreadsheet, to view the contents of the tapes I’ve uploaded to this page so far, choose the index tab for a summary of the tape number and the contents. If there was anything noteworthy on the tape, I tried to point it out in the “Notes” column but this brings me to one of the reasons I’m sharing these tapes with everyone: Even though I made the recordings, I never listened to them entirely. I just kept them through the years with the intention of making copies for those who wanted them.
The spreadsheet should be easy to navigate. The tabs on the bottom correspond to the tape number I assigned to it. On the tabs, a number like this 012^ means I’m done converting it to MP3 and should be on the website soon. A tab with 043! means I’m still researching something about it or I have to listen for song order, etc. Make sure you slide the bottom slider all the way to the left and the up/down slider all the way up to see most of the sheet. First, I did take the time to notate the songs and if the tape had anything written on it as to the date or location, I included that. Sometimes I did get caught up in listening and made some observations but I’m hoping with all of us having access to these recordings, we can share what we find with each other.
The other thing I want to explain is that the tape number doesn’t mean anything as far as earliest to latest chronologically. All I did was separate the tapes by each group I was in and then started transferring them to my computer. The number was assigned in order of the tape being transferred. I kept track on the spreadsheet if a certain tape was on the same night and venue as another one but it would have taken a lot longer for me to put them in chronological order before starting the recording process.
Beatles Medley
I’ve always had regrets that we didn’t do more takes on this song. Now that I have the software, I spent a little time repairing this. It’s still not perfect, but better…IMHO
Conquistador (repaired)
I’ve been transferring Reel to Reel tapes and will start including them here at the top of the page, although the Excel spreadsheet has them at the end. (RR = Reel to Reel)
