This page is meant to capture the original songs I’ve written and/or recorded while in a band. There were a couple of bands where we didn’t write or record original songs so they’re not on this page but I’m including one band I produced but didn’t write the songs or play for…and that band was BLAST!
Back Story - Credits - Lyrics
This is one of three songs we recorded at Hollywood Sound Recorders in the summer of 1984. The basic tracks were recorded in Studio C and overdubs in B and C.
The musicians are Rey Pasmant on lead and background vocals, Raymond Bridgeford on lead guitar and acoustic guitar, Steve Bringelson on bass and acoustic guitar, Jim Wilson on drums and I’m playing the piano and a Korg string machine. Along with Rey, we’re all singing background vocals.
Verse I
You’re cloudin’ my feelings, I’m stormin’ inside
Can’t give it up until I’ve tried
I’ve kept it inside, denied it, it’s true
I’m falling like rain over you
Chorus
Fallin’, fallin’ over you
Fallin’, fallin’, fallin’ over you
Verse II
This angry heart of mine, on this loveless night
Won’t let you go without a fight
Wrap yourself in my love, this is more than a clue
I’m pouring like rain over you
Outro
Somewhere in the night I fought but fell for you
Somehow it felt right, I’m fallin’ over you
This is another one of three songs we recorded at Hollywood Sound Recorders in the summer of 1984. The basic tracks were recorded in Studio C and overdubs in B and C.
The musicians are Rey Pasmant on lead and background vocals, Raymond Bridgeford on rhythm guitar, Steve Bringelson on bass and playing the harmonica solo, Jim Wilson on drums and I’m playing the piano and a Mini Moog synthesizer. Along with Rey, we’re all singing background vocals.
Caught my eye, with a glance
Don’t be shy, take a chance
One more step, almost there
Tell me now, do you care?
Went for broke, one more time
But couldn’t cope, with your sign
“please don’t touch” is what it said
Wait awhile and we’ll talk instead
Diving in to dangerous water, swimming up stream
The tide is sweeping me away, running out of steam
I’ve been sailing on, sailing on the sea of intentions
Saw my friend, across the park
Dusk will bend, into the dark
Couldn’t see, what was what
But I knew, what was not
Had a shape clutched in his arm
Taking in all his charm
It turns out, I’ve been had
It’s my girl, well that’s just too bad
So many games for us to play, if we choose
Why can’t we be…true?
This is one of two more songs we recorded at Hollywood Sound Recorders. The basic tracks were recorded in Studio C and overdubs in B and C.
The musicians are Rey on lead and background vocals, Steve Bringelson on bass, Jim Wilson programmed a Yamaha drum machine and I’m playing the piano and a Yamaha DX7 with a couple of different patches. Along with Rey, we’re all singing background vocals.
Four-thirty rolls around
She’s been tied down for eight hours
Shes’ been waitin’ for the night
Waitin’ for the time to be right
Darkness falls, nighttime calls
Dressed to kill she’s out for the evenin’
Lookin’ for the real thing
Tired of love against the wall
(Fast life) fast life, she knows where to go
(No time) no time to lose
She’s walkin’, talkin’, ready rockin’
Love Against the Wall
You see her face with every turn
Her hungry eyes you know what she’s thinkin’
Lookin’ for the right one,
Tired of existing, that’s all
Darkness falls, nighttime calls
Dressed to kill she’s out for the evenin’
Waiting for a good-bye
Tired of love against the wall
This song was written by my cousin Gary Rose. He had a recording contract and needed a “B” side for his first release (Falling Over You was the “A” side). I was already back in California by that time so I flew back to Houston to help on the recordings of Falling Over You and You Always Make Me Feel This Way. I thought the lyrics could use some “tightening up” so I helped re-write the lyrics.
On this recording, it’s the band Mandalay performing the song live. This was in early 1984 when we were playing in Alamosa, CO.

Lyrics:
You Always Make Me Feel This Way
It’s so hard to go home
Come on don’t leave me alone
You always leave me in a daze
In the middle of a dream
Go on, now set me free
You can’t deny it, that your falling in love
And couldn’t stand to be alone
You always said you’d never take me this far
Well here you are, you’re breakin’ up my home
You always know just what to say, girl
So I run into your arms
Damn you, now leave me alone
Damn you, please leave me alone
Back Story - Credits - Lyrics
“When I’m Down” as it was originally recorded by The Guys and Dolls at Two Dot Studios in Ojai, CA. The year was 1973, I believe.
The Guys and Dolls were: Valerie Larsen – guitar, Rhonda Larsen – bass, John Stanewich – lead vocalist, Mike Younce – drums and myself – keyboards (actually one keyboard, a Vox Continental Baroque. Thankfully, the studio had a Hammond B3 organ so I added an organ track.
On lead guitar is Russ Hansen. He was a friend of Sheb Wooley and played on most, if not all, of the other songs on the album.
This version of “When I’m Down” was recorded with the same backing tracks (drums, bass, guitars and keyboards) as the original version, using the revised lyrics by Sheb Wooley. At the time, we were playing a couple of times as Sheb’s back up band. He had recently written several songs and asked us to record 8 of them as demos so he could approach other artists to record them. We recorded those and added two of my compositions and released the album “Happiness Is the Guys and Dolls”. “Happiness Is” was one of the 8 songs Sheb had written. “When I’m Down” was one of the songs I had written with Jim Collins. Sheb thought the song would be a good fit for Donny Osmond, who was recording under the same label at the time. So, he asked me to join him in a writing session to revise the lyrics and then plug the song to Donny Osmond’s producer. I asked the other members of the group if they would re-record the vocal tracks with these lyrics and this is the result. I created a video with this song and pictures of the group and here’s a link: Michael Wilson Project – When I’m Down
I tried to catch your name
But you passed so fast
I only heard the wind whisper by
The first love of my life
Didn’t last long
I always said my love would turn you on
But as a dream is done…you were gone
I can’t see the wind
But I see how it bends
The grass, the trees, and me
Like the grass and the trees
Couldn’t catch the sun on a cloudy day
I just saw you go your own way
